PWR fixture between Harlequins and Leicester Tigers to kick off Big Game 16

Harlequins are proud to launch the 16th edition of Big Game this Christmas with a blockbuster double header confirmed against Leicester Tigers at the home of English rugby, the recently re-branded Allianz Stadium - Twickenham.

Big Game is the biggest annual club rugby event in the world and is delivered in partnership with Charles Stanley Wealth Managers who are partners of Big Game. Big Game 16 promises to be our biggest and best yet, with two spectacular rugby matches, world-class entertainment, another World Record attendance expected and a fun-filled afternoon for the whole family.

Harlequins CEO Laurie Dalrymple said: “Big Game 15 was without doubt our biggest and most popular Big Game event ever. The combination of brilliant rugby, an incredible laser light show and pre-match entertainment in bowl, alongside a packed event day for all ages delivered record feedback. We can’t wait to unveil what we believe will take Big Game to new heights this Christmas!”

Harlequins Women v Leicester Tigers Saturday 28 December, KO 15:00, Allianz Stadium - Twickenham

Harlequins Women kick-off the festivities with a highly anticipated clash with Leicester Tigers. Both sides went head-to-head in the PWR last season with Quins winning both fixtures, outscoring Leicester 24-33 at Mattioli Woods Welford Road before an impressive 47-12 win at The Stoop.

With the Rugby World Cup in England just 12 months away, we’re calling on fans to show their support for the exciting growth of women’s rugby, with another World Record crowd expected for Big Game 16. Last season 16,237 fans watched Harlequins take on Gloucester-Hartpury, and this year the Club aspires to a crowd of 20,000 to make it the largest ever for a women’s club rugby union match. With ex-Quin Amy Cokayne in the Tigers ranks, it promises to be a competitive and exciting match.

Harlequins Men v Leicester Tigers Saturday 28 December, KO 18:00, Allianz Stadium - Twickenham

Harlequins Men and Leicester Tigers meet for the third time at Big Game, with the previous matches finishing all square on both occasions (26-26 at Big Game 1 and 30-30 at Big Game 12). The two sides also went head-to-head in the famous 2012 Aviva Premiership Final with Quins clinching the title with a 30-23 win in front of a packed Twickenham crowd.

Last season featured two enthralling encounters, with Quins winning 25-29 at Mattioli Woods Welford Road, before Leicester clinched a 19-20 victory at The Stoop. Supporters can expect another fierce contest with Leicester under the stewardship of Michael Cheika taking on a Quins side who have lost just two of their last 18 matches at Allianz Stadium - Twickenham.
