Which players made the headlines in Premiership Women's Rugby Round 9?

Abi Burton produced one of the performances of the season as she helped Trailfinders Women beat Sale Sharks 31-5 at the Trailfinders Sports Club.

Burton, in her first appearance since October, scored three tries. She also beat as many defenders as any other player (six), put in 20 tackles and delivered 18 carries to put her side on course for their third win of the season.

Burton was named PWR Player of the Week for her performance which stood out in the PWR Oval Insights Rankings. To read the full rankings, click here.

Burton earned a 8.6 ranking, while Lightning prop Isla Curphey and Saracens back rower Gabby Senft also rating a score of more than 8.

Other notable performances included:

  • Curphey (Lightning) played 39 minutes off the bench, beat six defenders (joint-first) and won two scrum penalties.
  • Abby Dow (Trailfinders Women) made the most metres (131), clean breaks (four), and offloads (four) in Round 9.
  • Julia Omokhuale was the only player to make four dominant tackles in Round 9; she also won a turnover.
  • Tatyana Heard made more carries than any other player in Round 9 (19). She also assisted a break.
